It’s glorious!!!
Today I set out to find a yarn shop in the Lindenwood neighborhood, Knitorious. It is located on the corner of Watson Road and Bradley Avenue. As I walked down the sidewalk to go in the front door, I noticed little banner flags that had been knitted or crocheted hanging on the hand rail – so cute!
Now this is multifarious!!!
Right inside the door by the windows was a table with several people knitting and talking. At first glance, the shop looked fairly small but as I wandered around, I realized there were several other rooms. The yarn just seemed to pop out EVERYWHERE! I found a small section of St. Louis alpaca yarn in natural colors. As I continued around the shop, I saw The Fibre Co., Queensland, Blue Heron Yarns, Brooklyn Tweed, along with Berroco, Plymouth and Cascade. Prices ranged from “too pricey for me” to very reasonable. The staff was friendly but not hovering.
Really?!?!?
I purchased a skein of Universal Yarn Inc., Cotton Supreme DK Seaspray and had it wound before leaving. It is a nice, soft 100% cotton yarn that will make a lovely, lightweight, summer scarf for mom. {ED. NOTE – REALLY?!?!? I mean, seriously?!?!?!?!}
In another room they had a large selection of binders loaded with patterns. It was nice to be able to flip through a few instead of viewing patterns online. They also had a few spinning wheels in stock and some roving for spinners.
There seems to be a pattern developing!!!
I left Knitorious and went looking for a bakery. St. Louis seemed to be full of bakeries but the hours were different and I kept missing them! I found Pint Size Bakery & Coffee, also on Watson. The shop was small but had an interesting selection – different from the usual muffins and cookies. They had tea cakes with different fruit fillings, oatmeal cream pies, raspberry chocolate cream pies, savory scones, fruit scones, “breakfast cookies” and my favorite, the brookie – it’s just what it sounds like brownie on bottom with chocolate chip cookie on top, very fudgy and incredibly yummy! {ED. NOTE – The savory scone was interesting, not my thing, but I can see the allure} Check out their website – they have something for everyone 😊!
The raspberry whoppie pie was fabulous!
