It’s like we never left!!!!! I wish we never had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are back in Colorado! We left Cheyenne and moved to Greeley the first of August. Greeley is about 20 miles east of Loveland and home to the University of Northern Colorado where our daughter works. Since it’s out a bit from the front range, the summer rent is less than Loveland or Fort Collins, so seemed like a good place to light for a while. The hubs started a new job where he has to go into an office twice a week in Denver, for now, which is about an hours drive – it’s curbing our traveling a bit but things are always changing!
Our RV park doesn’t have good walking space for the pups, so several times a week we head over to Glenmere Park. It’s a lovely park in a neighborhood setting with beautiful green grass, lots of trees, a pond with waterfowl and a paved walkway around the outside – about half a mile. It’s a great place to go and enjoy being out. (Ed. Note – So, it’s not the Fort Collins geese, but it’s still geese!!!!)
The other day I saw these birds and couldn’t figure out what they were. I asked a woman who was watching them and found out they are juvenile black-crowned night herons. (Ed. Note – I’m surprised you could see them in the daytime!!!!! But, I guess they were juvenile – so they probably snuck out – freakin’ teenagers!!!!!!!) The picture under those is of a great blue heron I saw a couple of weeks ago at the same park.
At least one of us has to go east of the Mississippi!!!!!!!!
I also spent a week in Helena, Alabama visiting my parents, brother and his family. It was a GREAT visit! I spent some time with my sweet niece and knit her a quick little hat and short scarf with a skein of Universal Yarn’s Bamboo Bloom Handpaints. I think she makes a beautiful model ❤
Since I was talking about birds earlier, I have to show the picture of a white egret we saw outside The Depot (BEST burgers and tator tots around!) in downtown Helena. There’s a lovely view of Buck Creek from the back porch.
After I finished the hat and scarf, I started my next project – perfect for the airplane ride home! Socks, out of Round Table Yarns bought and hand-dyed in Texas. Colorway is Merlin, bright green, purple and blue. It’s been a while since I knit a pair of socks. I’d forgotten how much I love to knit them!
I don’t care that I’ve had to buy a separate box to put yarn in – I want what I want!!!!!!!
When I got back home, I pulled out my tree color work hat and decided the varigated yarn I wanted to use had too many bland colors and I wanted something that would POP! So I made a quick run (HA!) to The Loopy Ewe and wandered the aisles. (Ed. Note – OMG – are you serious!!!!) At the beginning I continued to pick up colors that were matchy matchy with the green. I finally realized that to get the POP I wanted was to pick something without any green in it and contrasting instead. (Ed. Note – So there wasn’t something contrasting in the box?!?!?!?!?!?) I found it in a skein of Malabrigo RIOS, colorway Archangel. I think the burnt orange colors will be great for my trees 😊
Now this is a hobby the whole family can enjoy!!!!!!!
Last weekend, we headed to Loveland for some kolaches at Just a Pinch and disc golf. We hadn’t played this course in over a year and headed to Mehaffey Park. We came to the first tee and this is what we saw:
I watched very carefully wherever I stepped and just about the time I stopped worrying about rattlesnakes, this is what we see on the 6th hole:
I enjoyed playing but was glad when we finished!! (Ed. Note – It was a good round!!!)
I’ll leave you with some pictures of the beautiful flower trial garden at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. (Ed. Note – Are they just trying to grow a flower garden or is this where they have trials for flowers??? Cause, I mean, what did the flowers do??!?!?!?!?) (That’s why there’s a link – so you can do a little reading on your own…) I’ve driven by them many times but never stopped. Dare and I decided last week that the day was today! They were beautiful! The photograph of the pink bloom at the top of the post is a hibiscus. It was about 8 inches in diameter. Amazing!
And this is a historical home across the street – it looks like a cottage that should be in England somewhere! (Ed. Note – A fine Brandybuck or Took home, fit for the finest Hobbit!!!!)
Rattlesnakes? ~ you are braver than I am!
I love all the pictures!
I know, right!!
