It’s nice that it ain’t all brown!!!!
We left Santa Fe over a month ago and headed to Little Rock – where it is SPRING! Budding trees! Bright tulips!
New Mexico sure did a number on our rig!!!!
We enjoyed our time in Little Rock, however, there were definitely problems! We hooked up at the Downtown Riverside RV Park and quickly discovered something was clogging our water lines. Since we were planning on taking the rig to Camping World anyway to get the roof and slide fixed from the fallen tree, we took it on over and checked into a hotel for what we thought would be no more than two weeks. After Camping World negotiated with our insurance company (which took several days) they finally began work which, remember, was only supposed to take TWO weeks. Every time we called to check on the progress, we were told it was going to take another day or two longer. We went to pick it up on the day it was finally supposed to be ready only to find out the rig was being painted that day! There was a “bad spot” in the first paint job, but no one (body shop manager, maybe?) noticed until the day we were to pick it up. Go figure. Paint must cure for at least 24 hours before a rig can be driven AND our sink faucet had not yet been replaced. Apparently, the clog had lodged in the kitchen faucet and it needed to be completely replaced. We believe the problem in the lines came from the rust and dust of Santa Fe…. anyway, by this time I thought my head would completely explode as we had already been in Little Rock an extra week than planned. To make a long story a bit shorter, we spent over 3 weeks in a hotel with 2 big dogs and missed a week we were supposed to spend in Birmingham. It was quite a frustrating time. The good part was visiting with my girlfriends 😊, a yarn shop and several nice walks!
So, something good came out of New Mexico!!!!!!!!!
While in Little Rock, I did finish a scarf for my mom for Mother’s Day. It turned out just beautiful, if I do say so myself! I used Ziawoolz purchased in Albuquerque at The Yarn Shop at Nob Hill. The pattern is Bella Shawl by Annie Baker that I bought at Mooncat Fiber in Taos. The pattern was easy and fun to knit – I’ll be knitting another one of these soon.
Sculpture Gardens FTW!!!!
The hubs and I did take a nice stroll downtown to view the sculptures. It was a lovely day and the sculptures are so fascinating. We rarely did things like this when we lived here. I encourage everyone, wherever you live, to get out and about in your city to see what it has to offer.
We don’t need more Yarn!!!!!
Another day I headed to Malvern to visit the Arkansas YarnCo. I’ve been here before and just love this shop! I bought some yarn for a sweet friend of mine who just had a birthday and knee surgery and I thought just needed more yarn! 🤣 It’s Yummy Sparkle, extra fine merino, fingering weight – with her favorite color throughout, RED! I actually decided to go back another day to treat myself to a GREAT yarn backpack by Birdling that the shop just started carrying. Love it!! (Ed. Note – Seriously, we do not need more yarn!!!!) (Uh, I gave this yarn away, Editor! Pay attention)
It is good to be back on the road again!!!!
We headed to Birmingham to visit with my parents and brother and his family. We stayed at Birmingham South RV Park which was very pleasant. They were so understanding at my change of arrival date which happened about 3 times and were very friendly when we arrived. We had a nice spot and great breezes every evening. Since we only had a week, I spent every day visiting with my mom and dad. It was wonderful to see them after 9 months and too short a trip! We also got to see our 3-year-old niece who I’m happy to say seemed to remember her Auntie Pam and only took minutes to warm up to us. We met them for dinner at The Depot in Helena – some of the best burgers and tater tots I’ve had in a while! We wandered down around Buck Creek and over to a small playground after dinner. It was fun!
As long as the robot parts stay in place it’ll be fine!!!
The hubs has started playing disc golf again after his cervical disc replacement and we went together to play the course on the campus of the University of Montevallo – our alma mater (where we met and fell in love and it all began 😊). It was so fun to see the changes to the campus and play the course than ran through the woods and around the soccer fields. Since we only had one vaccine so far, we didn’t get to visit with any of our college friends – maybe next time!
I have to say, every time we visit Alabama it amazes me how beautiful it is – especially this time of year when the trees are budding, and the leaves are out with all different shades of green. It was a beautiful drive!
As the old saying goes, “At least we’re not Mississippi!!!!!!”
Today we are headed to Gulfport, Mississippi to visit our oldest. He’s in tech school for the Reserves in cyber security and away from home and wife. I’ve never been to Gulfport and we’re staying right off the beach! We’re looking forward to seeing him!
