February 16, 2019 – Cape Charles, Virginia

Posted on March 14, 2019 by Pam

Exploring the Eastern Shore – yep – still closed!!

This afternoon the hubs and I set out for a little exploring together. I had noticed a tree lined drive every time I traveled up and down Highway 13. We decided to follow the drive and discovered Eyre Hall, a manor that has been passed down from generation to generation since 1758 and still has someone from the family living in the home. The house is open once a year around Christmas but the gardens can be explored any day of the year.

We had an enjoyable afternoon and got ready for another day of RAIN.

It almost feels like vacation!!!

My wonderful friend, Gail, always asks “what was your favorite part of Cape Charles” (or your week or your vacation, etc.). It always makes me think back on my visit or trip. So I thought I’d share my favorite part of each place we stay – in Cape Charles it was sitting on our chairs in the sand by the bay each night and watching the sunset or the moon behind the clouds and the ships in the harbor. It was a peaceful and relaxing way to end each day.

Here’s a few more photos of the Eastern Shore of Virginia:

{ED. NOTE – Yes, that is a hip bone – no, it is not some weird, gigantic sand dollar (doesn’t it look like part of a HUGE sand dollar?!) – it appears to be from a deer}

Back to the mainland

Sunday, we drove back over the CBBT to mainland Virginia. We saw a ship going out of the Bay right before we down into the second tunnel. It was so crazy to think about the amount of water over the tunnel as we drove through – enough for a ship to travel over! (Yes, I am amazed regularly over simple things :)) {ED NOTE – I can validate this to be true}

We drove on to Hampton, Virginia to the Bethel Famcamp which is a military park for active duty, retired military and dependents. It is a small camp with about 30 RV sites and a tent area. It is only about 10 minutes away from our son and DIL and a perfect spot for our visit.

        Of course I wouldn’t mention it but I can’t speak for the editor!

      Chairs in the sand by the bay, sunsets and relaxing…..falling into the “lifestyle!”
