June 1, 2019 – Riverview RV Park, Loveland, Colorado

Posted on June 5, 2019June 5, 2019 by Pam

Hello City!!!!!

Goodbye Genoa!  Hello, Loveland!  Today we left Genoa and headed to our next park, Riverview RV Park in Loveland, Colorado.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed our time in Genoa but I my vision of Colorado was MOUNTAINS!  Now, we are in the foothills and around MOUNTAINS!  I LOVE it!  (ED. NOTE – In Genoa we were 10 minutes away from anything, now we’re 10 minutes away from everything!!)

A river runs through it!!!!!

This park is quite a contrast to Genoa.  It is full of people, children and dogs. (ED. NOTE – OK, maybe civilization is over-rated!!!)  The Big Thompson River runs right beside the park and there is a trail to walk along the river.  They have a band that plays bluegrass every Saturday and our spot is right across from the pavilion where they play.  We can sit in our chairs and hear perfectly and watch the children dance in the pavilion from our spot without having to mingle with anyone else – I sound a little anti-social, don’t I? (ED. NOTE – Hey, I resemble that remark!!!!)

In Australia, you can get fined if your dog barks more than 30 times an hour – the more you know!!!!

I’m hoping that spending a month here around all the people and dogs will help Rosie and Alice become a little more sociable, so they don’t bark at everyone that moves!  Also, we are just miles away from civilization!  There is Walmart, King Soopers, Safeway, Petsmart, and restaurants galore!  (ED. NOTE – Holy Hell!!  Civilization!!!  Actual grocery stores! – not that there’s anything wrong with Edward’s Food Giant/Harvest Foods type stores, but the produce section of the King Sooper’s here is about the size of the grocery store in Limon!!!)

Even better…. four yarn shops within 10 miles and another 4 within 30 miles!  So EXCITED! (ED. NOTE – We will be starting a Kickstarter to help defray the costs of the spending spree that we are, apparently, about to embark upon – all donations will be thankfully accepted!!!!!!!!!)  And finally, next weekend is the Estes Park Wool Market and Fiber Festival!  I’ve been waiting for this – I’m thinking it will rival the Maryland Wood and Fiber Festival and I can’t wait! (ED. NOTE – Huh, some people have some weird things on their bucket list!!!!)

Sunday in the park with George!!!

Sunday, we took a stroll around the Benson Sculpture Garden.  It is surrounded by neighborhoods and many of the sculptures are located on the outside of the park near the sidewalk so they can be seen while driving by.  The park was started in 1985, covers 10 acres of land and has 163 permanent sculptures with room to add more.  There is a sidewalk running through the entire park, benches, a few picnic tables and public restrooms.  The sculptures are interesting – some whimsical and others quite serious.  We only covered part of the Garden and will probably go back – it’s a great place for walking the dogs :).  Below is a tiny sample. (ED. NOTE – Apparently my favorite piece didn’t make the cut for picture posting. HMU and I’ll text it to you!!)

Kind of reminds me of the sculptures in the riverwalk park in Little Rock.
