Congrats!!!!!!!
I last wrote back in April, looking forward to some traveling – which we did. The hubs and I went to Omaha to see our amazing DIL graduate from the University of Nebraska – CONGRATULATIONS, KARA!! We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her and our oldest. We stayed at the West Omaha KOA and had the BEST RV site, a pull through with no neighbors, looking out on a corn field. It was fabulous!
Kara took me on a couple of hikes – one in Schramm Park State Recreation Area. There were pools that flowed down the mountain, one which had a BIG snapping turtle on a log 🙂 (zoom in – he’s in the middle)
I got to see a new to me tree, the Hackberry tree which has warty looking bark!
As we were hiking, we heard a strange sound – like a squeaky door hinge – after some looking through Google, we discovered we were hearing a yellow-headed blackbird. We never could find it in the tree branches though. It was fun to have someone to hike with, especially someone who recently had a botany class and could tell me about the trees and plants around us!
Home of Harry S. Truman!
Two weeks later, we headed to Independence, Missouri to visit our other son. We stayed at the Campus RV Park which was close to him and a nice place to stay. A lot of green trees and big field in front for the dogs to run and romp. We’ll definitely stay there again :). We had a great time going to see the Kansas City Royals play the Minnesota Twins! We had GREAT seats (thanks, hubs!) and watched a good game…right up until the last inning when the Twins made 6 runs and won the game. It was still tons of fun!
Unfortunately, we had to cut that visit a bit short for a new job offer for the hubs. Since we needed to be in Cheyenne mid-June, we headed to Little Rock to clean out our storage unit.
Wide Open Space my A$$!!!!!
We managed to get our storage unit cleaned out, things distributed to each kid on the way to Cheyenne and got set up at the Terry Bison Ranch Resort. It’s a fun RV park – horses, alpaca, bison, a large walking area but very few trees and kinda small spaces.
As you can see, this part of Wyoming is a lot of wide, open spaces!
