I’m dreamin’ of a dust-filled Christmas, just like the ones I used to know!!!!
It’s been a nice and interesting lead up to Christmas – there’s been very high winds around here and pretty warm temperatures. The most disappointing is there has been little to no snow! We had one day of maybe an inch and I admit to missing the foot of powdery soft snow we experienced last year. Maybe in January… (Ed. Note – I hope so!!!)
Like a little kid!!!!
This was probably my most exciting day this month! The hubs and I were out visiting a holiday festival at a small town nearby and drove past this yard full of alpaca! They were back by the barn but my eagle eye saw them – I did a quick turn around, parked on the side of the road and was out of the car in a minute. As I came to the fence, the black alpaca started walking toward me, then started RUNNING toward me. The others were not far behind! I put my hand out and the more courageous ones did a little sniffing and snuffling and I got the hubs to take a picture. One of the things I love about being here is driving 5 miles in any direction and being “in the country” with fields, natural areas, horses and alpaca!
So, it is possible?!?!?!?!?!?!
Next, a little knitting update – I completed the hat for my daughter and I think it’s fabulous!
The gnome mystery KAL – at first I loved knitting all these little bits, even though they were definitely a little fiddly. Now, however, I have (of course) gotten behind and feel a rush to keep up and get it done on time. (Ed. Note – Oh my gosh, you can not be serious!!!!) I don’t like deadlines for my knitting (Ed. Note – I coulda told you that!!!!) – I had too many deadlines to keep up with when the kids were small and my knitting does not need deadlines! So, I’m not sure what my plans are for my gnome…to be determined 😁 (Ed. Note – Betting markets are predicting July!!!)
In the meantime, I started a second Rose Hat in red and dark charcoal. I find black to be VERY hard to see which makes me cranky, plus The Loopy Ewe was out of black Cascade 220 (Yay!!) so I got dark charcoal. I think the colors are so pretty together!
I also started on the oldest’s sweater! Cast on 144 stitches, knit 14 rows in garter stitch, THEN re-read the pattern and realized it’s a SEAMED sweater! I don’t like SEAMED anything….sigh. After taking a day or two to think about it and a suggestion from a friend that I figure out how to knit it seamlessly, I looked back over the pattern and decided that YES! I could do it – so, the oldest wanting me to design a sweater is partially coming true 😉. I ripped out my 14 rows of garter stitch, cast on 284 stitches and am about to start a knit 2 purl 2 ribbing! (Ed. Note – Good Luck, JC!!! You may end up with a swanket too!!!!) (Very funny…)
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!!!
I’ll leave you with a wish for a beautiful and happy Christmas and some pictures that don’t do our surroundings justice!

Chairs would make a excellent duck blind for a non-serious hunter with a six pack.
Hahaha! Or a bird watcher with a glass of wine!
