Shiny vampires!!!!!!
Today we drove to Forks, Washington. I told the hubs that if we were in Seattle, I had to go visit Forks – only 3 and half hours away. In case you didn’t know, the Twilight movies were set in Forks, Washington, the most rainy city in the United States. A little background…when the Twilight movies came out, my kids were in their teens and I watched these movies with them. My first thoughts were “ehhhhhh” but then decided to read the books. After reading them, I became a bit of a fan and my daughter and I watched them numerous times over the years. (Ed. Note – Bit of a fan – ha!!!!) Also around this time, we decided to get a dog for the first time in many years, so we got a female German Shepherd and the kids (mainly Dare) decided her name should be Bella. Two years later, we adopted a rescue female who became Bella’s best friend. We decided to name her Alice, you know, because she’s Bella’s best friend in the Twilight movies. After a wonderful seven years, Bella went to doggie heaven. Alice and I were having a VERY hard time – Alice wouldn’t leave her kennel and I missed my Bella sitting by my feet while I worked every day from home. Six months later, we got another female German Shepherd. Even though the kids were way older and way over Twilight, I thought we needed to round out the three main vampire female leads and name her Rosalie – we call her Rosie. As you can see, Twilight influenced a small part of our life, therefore, I had to visit Forks!
2 things happen in this town – Attack of the Twilight Fans and logging – that’s it!!!!
We left this morning and arrived at Forks in the early afternoon. I was able to get a reservation at the Last Chance Equine Camp & Rest Stop. It’s a nice, short-term place to stay – they only have a couple of spots with electricity and water with no sewer at all. We set up and then headed to the Forks Visitor’s Center to get our (my) Twilight Tour map. Even though the hubs was TOTALLY rolling his eyes, he agreed to navigate while I drove around town to see the Swan and Cullen house, Bella’s high school and a Fork’s police car 😊.
After giggling a bit while taking pictures of these spots, we went back into town so I could go visit the Forever Twilight exhibit located at the Fork’s Art Center. I had to wait in line a bit as they were only allowing 8 people in the building at a time (stupid COVID). The exhibit contains some of the actual costumes worn by the actors in the movies, as well as two of the benches used during the wedding scenes, autographed photos and some typed book pages from Stephenie Meyer. So FUN!
Tomorrow, back to more normal grown-up stuff – the Hoh Rainforest and west coast beaches!
Love that I now understand where B, A, and R’s names came from. I never knew as I never watched or read the Twilight series. I officially feel like I have missed out. Ha 😊
Ps. Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎈
I didn’t know that! Something for you and Liliana to watch in 3 or 4 years 😀. Thanks for the birthday wishes!
