March 5, 2021 – Santa Fe, New Mexico

Posted on March 6, 2021 by Pam

We’re apparently from Fort Collins now!!!!

After six months at home in Fort Collins (well, we consider it home now) we are on the road again! Our first stop is a month in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I’d been through here YEARS ago and have always wanted to visit and here we are 😊 We’re staying at Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Resort and Campground, a nice park surrounded by plenty of restaurants, shopping and conveniences. There is an area at the back of the park to walk the dogs but unfortunately, not a fenced in area for running – hopefully we’ll find a fenced in park next week.

Before leaving Ft. Collins, I whipped up a hat for the hubs. I used 2 skeins of Classic Elite Tiverton Tweed, 90% alpaca and soooooo soft! The pattern is Two by Two and he loves it! (Ed. Note – True!!!!)

I also started a new sweater – Wispy by Hannah Fettig. I’ve had her book knitbot essentials since it came out in 2012 and love her patterns. The yarn is Knitpicks Palette in Semolina – a pretty honey yellow that should look great with my new Wool& sleeveless dress that should be arriving in April.

The hubs and I drove to the historic Santa Fe square and wandered around looking at little shops, adobe buildings and old town square.

Twas brilling and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe

Today, I hit my first yarn shop in the area – Looking Glass Yarn and Gifts. (Ed. Note – All mimsy were the borogoves, And the slithy raths autograbe.) It was so nice to be able to go inside a shop and see all the colors in person and touch the fibers – it was FANTASTIC!! Everyone was very friendly and gave me the layout of the shop. There was lots of lovely yarn with great prices, a huge selection of books upstairs, tables for sitting and knitting (after COVID) both up and down stairs. I walked out with the first thing I saw (after looking at everything else) – uneek sock by urth. (Ed. Note – Of course you did!!!!) These kits are self striping with two small balls already wound so the socks will match. According to their website, urth is partnered with Trees for the Future and every skein of urth yarn plants a tree. If you share a picture of your socks using #knitoneplantone, they will plant an additional tree for every post. How cool is that?! As you can see, I also picked up this cute little sheep card to put on my picture board. (Ed. Note – Beware the Jabberwock, my son!!!!) (Apparently, the hubs favorite poem – from Through the Looking Glass…)

Tomorrow, we’re heading to Taos for the day – can’t wait!!

Glad you were able to move on down the road. Santa Fe look like a neat place. John’s cap looks really soft and love the color. Can’t wait to see the sweater you are working on. Have fun.
