Ooohhhh, I get it – ok, that’s kinda cute!!!!!
Today was an “all about me” day! After dropping the hubs at the VRE, Virginia Railway Express (train station) for work, I had the truck ALL day. I decided to visit my first yarn shop in this part of Virginia. I’m so excited because Needles in the Haymarket is about 2 miles from our home!!
Before I hit the yarn shop, I stopped for lunch in a neat little restaurant, Hidden Julles Café. They serve organic, local food and breakfast all day long! I had a Monte Cristo which was quite yummy. The baked goods looked delicious and I’ll be stopping back by to try a muffin 😊. (Ed. Note – Where’s my muffin????????)
So it wasn’t like searching for a …….!!!!!!!!!!
A couple of blocks down was Needles in the Haymarket. I walked into a shop FILLED with yarn and needlework supplies. There was small table right inside the door where two employees were each teaching knitting techniques to two customers, actually, three customers. One was a woman and child, the child was working on socks! And by child, I mean young, maybe 8 – I was VERY impressed. I was immediately greeted and started perusing on my own. I’m still looking for a chunky yarn for a new sweater, so I looked through the whole store and found several that might work. At the other end of the shop was a larger table with a couple of women knitting and chatting about life.
Help, I need somebody! Help, not just anybody!!!!
After that I went back to the counter and pulled out my incomplete Breathing Space sweater and got some help trying to find a yarn that will blend well enough for me to finish it. The owner, and son (who was one of those teaching at the table) were quite helpful in locating a skein that might work. However, another employee, Linda, showed me how to search on Ravelry to see if anyone might have a skein of Colorful Eclectic Twilight to sell or trade! I hadn’t even thought of that – so, I left without a purchase but with plans to go back soon. (Ed. Note – Ok, this is so different that I fear you may not be well!!!!) They have a wonderful sale on the first Tuesday and third Saturday of EACH month – 20% off. Big, bulky sweater – here I come!!
I was invited by Linda to come by anytime to sit and knit – I will definitely be going back!
