February 21, 2019 – Famcamp, Virginia

Posted on March 16, 2019 by Pam

OMG – Is it ever gonna stop?!?!?

We have settled in at Famcamp. Unfortunately, it has been raining quite a bit which has made the area very muddy but it is a very nice wooded park.

There is a pretty good walking area which we need for the dogs. Past the RV parking is an area that circles around a large playground with pavilions and benches, continues around a large field where schools practice La Crosse in the afternoons and goes past a lake.

It eventually leads to a trail with plaques telling about the Big Bethel Battle. This was the first planned battle of the Civil War. There used to be a second entrance but that has been closed off for some time. This makes a nice loop to walk the dogs and get a little excercise!

This side’s mine!!!

So, one of the main things about living in an RV that we are having an issue with is the queen sized bed – we have been sleeping in a KING bed for 32 years! I am a very thoughtful sleeper so when I turn from one side to the other, I roll over and end up in the same place that I started in. {ED. NOTE – Blah, blah, blah} The hubs on the other hand, lays on one side, turns onto his back and continues rolling to the other side. As you can image, that takes up about three quarters of the bed. It can be a problem. {ED NOTE – Sure, I’m doing this on purpose in long-term project to drive her crazy – I think it may be working!!!}

That side’s yours!!!

The other night as I was trying to fall asleep, hubs rolled over (with his extra king size “knee” pillow pushed against my back) {ED NOTE – I call it Betsy} and put half a leg on me! I think I actually rolled my eyes! I said, “You are on top of me!” and he responded with, “I like it, you’re soft and squishy” and didn’t move! {ED. NOTE – He was still sleeping} I’m like, really?! and he was already starting to snore again….After a minute or two, I finally sat up and said, “You have to move!” and he did. I will admit he moves (usually) when I ask, heavy sigh….However, it still means I’m not necessarily getting a very good night sleep. The lesson – a king bed will be a requirement for the next rig!

Oh right, this was supposed to be about knitting!!!

I was able to finish the messy bun beanie for Kara (DIL) before we got here. Here she is modeling it herself!

I have also finished my mom’s requested cowl! {ED NOTE – Third times a charm} It is getting ready to be sent to her this week!!!

Finally, I actually knitted and washed a swatch for a Boxy sweater. (It is not my favorite thing to do but I’m learning it is a necessary part of the sweater process.) I have knit this sweater before in wool and I’m embarrassed to admit, washed it incorrectly. It still fit but felted enough that the drape was gone and I didn’t like the way it looked. This time I am knitting it in a linen/cotton blend from KnitPicks.  So, I’m trying again! Wish me luck!
