Well, this was a pleasant surprise!!!!!
Missoula has two yarn shops and I visited both today! (ED. NOTE – I told her to spread the visits out but does she listen???) The first one is in the southwest area of Missoula that I haven’t been through yet. Beads, Yarns and Threads is a shop filled with lots of yarn, thread for needlepoint, books, kits, needles and notions. Right up front was a section of Montana yarns (I always try to buy local yarns when I can). (ED. NOTE – What happened to just browsing??? That is an option, you know!!!!) There was a large table in another room ready for knitters and classes. The owner was a lovely lady, very warm and friendly. We chatted quite a bit as I walked around and unfortunately, I didn’t remember names of yarn I saw but there was definitely much to see and plenty to choose from! (ED. NOTE – I’m thinking late night (day???) happy hour is catching up!!!!!)
The Amazing Technicolor Dream-coat!!!!!!
Next, I visited Joseph’s Coat located downtown near the river. The shop is quite small but full of beautiful yarns. They also carried local yarn and Janet, the owner, was able to help me find some for a specific sock project. (ED. NOTE – I’m not sure Montuckians wear socks!!!) The yarn is River Wash Sport, a 100% superwash merino wool in the Juniper colorway by Mountain Colors. Mountain Colors is located in Corvallis, Montana about an hour away. I also found these sweet daisy wooden buttons that I’m sure I can use one day. Janet noticed my daisy chain tattoo and commented that they must be my favorite flowers, which they are 😊. She wound the yarn for me as I wandered around the rest of the store. Some of the other local yarn carried was Thirteen Mile Lamb and Wool, Davis Creek Cashmere and Kalaya Yarns. I also saw Noro, Cascade, Opal, Regia and many others. There was not a place for sitting and knitting but the shop is in walking distance to several deli and coffee shops! (ED. NOTE – For a quick knit and nibble?????)
“This is the coolest shop ever!!”
My last place to visit today is Rockin Rudy’s. I was looking for a gift shop and this one was recommended to me. I LOVED it! (ED. NOTE – The heading is the quote from the text I received while she was there!!!) As I parked and walked toward the building, the first thing I noticed was HUGE hanging baskets of gorgeous pink flowers!
I went in the front door and was immediately hit by a sensation of smells – spicy, incensey, chocolate and I don’t know what else. (ED. NOTE – Coulda been worse, I guess!!) I wandered through what ended up being a maze of rooms with cards by local artists, local food items, jewelry, clothing, albums and cds, toys, puzzles – all kinds of things! I think I was there at least an hour and probably saw 1/3 of what they had. It was fun and I did not come out of there empty handed! (ED. NOTE – Of course you didn’t!!!)
All in all, a very fun day for me!!!!!
